I'm Lee (Leanne Laird), a HCPC registered physiotherapist with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and CSP insurance.

I work with people of all backgrounds and activity levels, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. Whether you're dealing with an acute injury, persistent pain, recovering from surgery, or simply want to move better and feel more comfortable in everyday life, I'm here to help.

How I Work: The Bigger Picture

My approach is based on the biopsychosocial model, recognising that we're more than just the sum of our parts. Rather than focusing solely on an injured muscle, tendon or joint, I look at the bigger picture: how your movement, activity levels, previous injuries, sleep, stress, recovery, lifestyle and personal goals all influence your pain and healing. By understanding these factors together, we can create a treatment plan tailored to fit you.

In practice that means a proper conversation before anything else, an assessment that looks beyond the sore spot, and a plan you can actually fit around your work, training and sleep.

What People Come to See Me About

Acute injuries

Something that has just happened, and you want to know what to do about it.

Persistent pain

Long-standing niggles that have not settled on their own, or keep coming back.

Post-surgical rehabilitation

Structured, graded work to rebuild after an operation.

Sports and training injuries

Grappling, lifting, running, aerial - injuries that come from doing the thing you love.

Strength, mobility and movement

Moving better and feeling more comfortable in everyday life.

Getting back to it

Returning to sport, training or work with a plan and some confidence.

If you are unsure whether physiotherapy is the right call, send a message and Lee will tell you honestly.

Who I Work With

People of all backgrounds and activity levels, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. You do not need to train at the gym, do martial arts, or be sporty at all - a good share of Lee's clients come in purely for physiotherapy.

That said, being based on the mats has its advantages. If you grapple, lift or train aerial, you are being assessed by someone who understands the demands of what you actually do and what "back to normal" needs to mean for you.

From Aerial Acrobatics to Physiotherapy

Before qualifying as a physiotherapist, I spent over 15 years as an aerial acrobatics instructor, working with people from amateur to semi-pro levels with a strong focus on injury prevention and rehabilitation.

This experience has given me an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of how to rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence in people of all abilities.

Common Questions

Do I need to be a member of the gym to see the physio?

No. Lee's clinic is open to everyone. You do not need to train at Watford Tactical Fighting, or do martial arts at all. Plenty of people come in purely for physiotherapy.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. Physiotherapy in the UK is a self-referral profession, so you can get in touch directly. If you plan to claim through private health insurance, check with your insurer first, as some require a GP referral before they will authorise treatment.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear something you can move comfortably in. Shorts and a t-shirt or vest work well, so the area being assessed can be seen and moved. Bring any relevant scan results, discharge notes or surgical information if you have them.

Do you only work with athletes and grapplers?

Not at all. Lee works with people of all backgrounds and activity levels, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes, and with people whose goal is simply to move better and feel more comfortable in everyday life.

What happens in a first appointment?

It starts with a conversation. Lee will ask about your symptoms, previous injuries, activity levels, sleep, stress and what you are trying to get back to, then carry out a physical assessment. You will leave with an explanation of what is going on and a plan built around you.

Where is the clinic, and how do I book?

Inside Watford Tactical Fighting, Nash House, 15 Sovereign Park, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7DA - a short drive from Watford, Berkhamsted, Kings Langley and St Albans. Appointments are arranged directly with Lee by email or Instagram message.
